Most of the time, the job becomes a second home for many of us. It is the place where work intertwines with the life stories of each of us. So is MamaPan! The special and closely linked friendships lead to creating delicious pastries, produced from natural ingredients, without chemical additives and enhancers. But what makes this place so special?
We invite you to discover, in the following interview, the special story of the bakery that uses sourdough:
1. How was MamaPan born?
MamaPan is a project of the Center for Partnership for Equality Foundation and was born as a social business, from our desire to provide support to mothers in the community who find themselves in difficult life situations. It is a business because it is sales and profit oriented and it is social because the employees belong to a group in social difficulty. In addition, we plan to reinvest the profit in other activities of the organization, to support women and to develop product donation programs to families in vulnerable situations.
2. What kind of ingredients do the products you prepare contain?
health of its members: the flour is without additives, unimproved and unrefined, the butter is bought directly from the producer, the plums jam is made from real plums, the walnut is ground by us... in addition, we use gluten-free ingredients for special products, but also healthy sugar substitutes for some pastries.
3. Why should we adopt sourdough bread in our diet? Can you explain to us, more precisely, what sourdough is and how can it be obtained?
Natural sourdough is obtained from the slow fermentation of flour with water and does not contain any baking yeast or beer. It is not rushed, it does not do sloppy work, it does not leave behind any raw dough. So, the bread and pastry with sourdough is as healthy as in the time of our ancestors, perfectly adapted to the human body, feeding it efficiently and correctly.
4. Can you give us more details about the MamaPan product range and to whom are they addressed?
Our products are for all people who want to prevent the disease before they have to treat it. For those who take care of them and their families. But also for those who need to regulate the unbalanced processes of their body through food, for those to whom doctors recommend that food become their medicine. We have the sugar-free range, the gluten-free range and, of course, all the wonderful types of rustic sourdough bread.
5. How does this bakery differ from the others?
Apart from the products themselves, which differ from those of other bakeries as I have already said, we are characterized by our special team: it consists of Mothers in the true sense of the word, women with a big soul, who help each other, who want the best for their customers and who work as hard as they can for a good future for their children and, implicitly, for the community in which we live.
6. How did these people get to you?
We found out about them and they found out about us thanks to other associations working in the social field.
7. Have you thought about developing this project in other cities as well?
This type of project requires a great investment of effort, time, patience, tenacity and we are not ready as a team to "play away". If we are talking about development, we would rather do it here. There are many directions in which we can grow, anyway.
8. What do you think MamaPan will look like in a few years?
It will have a small shop and a small courtyard with flowers and a few tables, where customers will be served with our fresh and healthy pastry products that are tasty and flavorful, and during this time, their confidence in the smooth running of society will be restored, step by step.
