Tennis has its origins in the fourteenth century, when it was invented by monks as a leisure method. Initially, the ball was served with the hand, but then a leather glove was used. This method didn’t work, so a wooden hand held was added to the gloves and thus the tennis racket was created.

The tennis racket is not the only one that has undergone changes over time. The tennis ball can boast about an admirable history. The tennis balls were made of wood at the beginning, but the hardness of the material and the weight of the ball prevented the monks from throwing it too far. Subsequently, they were replaced by leather balls filled with cellulose.

In Romania, tennis has become a phenomenon since 1885, when the first tennis clubs were established in several cities in the country. Since then, it has been one of the most popular sports.
