This month, the Humanitas publishing house delighted us with the launch of a seductive and captivating book about the search of authenticity in love and art. The novel with a suggestive title, "The Muse", is written by the London author Jessie Burton and has been a real success, being nominated for the British Book Awards Fiction Book of the Year 2016.

The appreciations have gone beyond the Great Britain`s borders, becoming a true international bestseller. Jessie Burton's book is translated in over 30 countries, including Romania. This initiative belongs to the Humanitas publishing house, which launched the book in the "Raftul Denisei" ("Denisa`s bookstand") collection, translated by Veronica D. Niculescu.

The novel presents an impressive story about aspiration and identity, love and obsession, authenticity and deception, all united under an umbrella of emotions. It's the story of two young women in different worlds, linked to the mystery of a retrieved painting. The first is a Spanish painter at the beginning of her career in the 1930s and the second one is an immigrant from the Caribbean, who wants to become a writer in London in the 1960s. Along with the two central characters, the action is complemented by an impressive area of characters.

The 35-year-old writer Jessie Burton was born in London, where she continued her studies, following English and Spanish language courses. The passion for reading was completed by the one for acting, because in her adolescence she played in "The Wild House," a BBC TV show. In literature, she became famous with the publication of the novel "The Miniaturist", which was sold in over 1,000,000 copies and was translated in 38 countries. In 2016, she launched "The Muse”, which follows the international success of her first book. The author is proud to announce that in 2018 she will publish her first novel for children, "The Restless Girls".
