The 24th edition of the GAUDEAMUS International Book Fair starts today and will be held until November 26th, in the Romexpo Central Pavilion. The event organized by Radio Romania is one of the most important and long-lasting exhibition events in Romania, being dedicated to the universe of reading. It has become a cultural landmark for both literary specialists and readers, with more than 100,000 visitors each year.

The first edition of GAUDEAMUS was held in November 1994, the next edition being two years apart. Since 1996, the fair has been held annually at the end of November. According to the official website of GAUDEAMUS, this year, the fair brings together, in an exhibition space of 14,000 sqm, offers from over 300 Romanian and foreign publishing houses, printers, educational institutions, cultural centers and institutes, media institutions, agencies book publishing, multimedia firms, literary agencies, non-governmental organizations with cultural and educational profile, professional associations, bookstores, libraries etc.

The honorary president of the GAUDEAMUS 2017 Fair will be the well-known playwright and journalist Matei Vişniec, and the special guest of this year is the European Commission, which will have a generous stand and a varied events program.

You can visit the fair by purchasing a 5 lei ticket or a 10 lei subscription, which is valid for the whole period of the fair. These tickets and subscriptions will register you with the GAUDEAMUS raffle and offer you the chance to win many awards made available by the fair partners. At the same time, a lot of audiences’ categories will have free access: preschoolers, students, teachers, librarians, editorial/educational professionals, journalists, retired people, people with disabilities and their attendants, organized groups.
