RUN for LIFE is a charity competition that makes its debut this year on 10 March in IOR Park. As its name suggests, the event will include three different running trails, with various lengths and levels of difficulty, and the goal will be a noble one – supporting the fight against cervical cancer.

The date of the charity competitions wasn’t chosen randomly at all, because March is the woman’s month, and it is the perfect time to support women suffering from this condition and to raise awareness of the importance of early cancer diagnosis. In Romania, cervical cancer is the first cause of mortality among young women aged 15-45, and this is the main reason with the Volunteers of the Chapel of the People’s Salvation Cathedral, in partnership with the associations Club Sportiv Ro Club Maraton, and Elite Running are organising the first edition of RUN for LIFE.

Participants can register to all three trails or choose only one of them. The participation fee differs according to the trail you choose, as follows:

  • Half-marathon, consisting of 1 x Short loop + 5 x Long loop – price 95 lei;

  • 10 km race, 1 x Short loop + 2 x Long loop – price 95 lei;

  • 3.7 km race, 1 x Long loop – price 60 lei.

In the period 7-9 March, you can register at the kit distribution spot. For the 3.7 km race, registrations can also be made on the competition day, between 9:45-11:15, at the place where it will be held. Of course, registration depends on the number of seats available. Each contestant will receive a participation kit between 7 and 9 March, between 16:00-20:00. The place where they can be collected is specified on the website of the event. In addition, you can find out more information about the races, the charity causes and the rules of the competition on runforlife.ro.

The beneficiaries of the funds collected through this event are the women suspicious of cervical cancer. At the same time, some of the funds collected will be directed to arrange the post‑anaesthesia section at Fundeni Oncologic Institute, an area dedicated to children undergoing MRI scans with anaesthesia, or radiotherapy with anaesthesia.
