Cimitirul Vesel from Săpânța village

Known all over the world for its different atmosphere, Cimitirul Vesel from Săpânța village became the main tourist attraction in Maramureş, being visited annually both by Romanians and by foreigners. The cemetery is dating back to 1935. It has about 800 crosses painted in the famous Săpânța blue and other vibrant colors by the skillful painter, sculptor and poet Stan Ion Pătraş and continued by his disciple. The unique character of the crosses is given by the humorous verses showing the life of the people that were buried or the reason of their death.

The Blue Lake from Baia Sprie

The Blue Lake, that is located a few kilometers from Baia Sprie, is the only one in the world that changes its color according to the season, being influenced by a lot of meteorological factors.
